Le No Point in Living de 2018 était très axé sur un black metal mélodique et suicidaire — combo parfait pour piéger toute personne qui s'en approche — mais il faut croire que ce n'était pas suffisant puisque Yu enregistre aussi cette année la musique de l'album Idolatry qu'il complètera avec sa voix en 2020. Et le black metal d'Idolatry, il TABASSE ! Colérique et old-school avec par moments une petite touche de blackgrind ("Grim Reaper", "Idolatry"). Il passe vite (30 minutes) mais défoule bien.

hiragi_ukyo is spot on! NPIL always makes great albums! I love the addition of songs both with and without vocals, makes me realize for sure that Yu has the most unique vocals in all of Black Metal, I can also tell by the music itself is Yu's music! but given the choice, I'd always prefer vocals over no vocals. simply an amazing artist with amazing music, I love to hear! 100!!!!!!! :) update: Naraku and What I Feel CDs arrived today! package was almost lost! but here now! 🙂

The Sea of Grief est un album qui, à mon avis, souffre de l'écart entre la conception et la réalisation. Sur le papier, No Point in Living qui mélange DSBM et du dark ambiant, je signe tout de suite : bien agencé, c'est le combo idéal pour nous garder la tête sous l'eau. Dans les faits, on se retrouve avec une séparation très nette entre les deux genres : le DSBM d'un côté, l'ambiant de l'autre, 50/50. Prises individuellement, les pistes sont très bonnes mais l'ensemble manque de profondeur.
